In Jewish tradition, the tallit ser- ves as a prayer and burial accesso- ry. The groom receives a tallit as a gift from the bride's parents on the wedding day, beginning to use it the day after the wedding, following the consummation of the marriage. The last time he uses it is during his funeral; the body is wrapped in the tallit during the funeral procession, and before covering the body, the tallit is removed from the grave. In this series, I used the tallit in which my father was buried.
