God's soldiers

In Israel, there is a mandatory military service law, but ultra-orthodox Jews are exempt due to their Torah studies. They believe that by dedicating them- selves to Torah study and obser- ving God's commandments, they contribute to the protection of
the Jewish people, and therefore, they argue against military service. They refer to themselves as "God's soldiers." The images were taken during protests by ultra-Orthodox individuals opposing their con- scription into the army.
